This article about a cheap storage space and price not mattering would appear to be a bit of an oxymoron; if someone is looking to rent storage units, looking for a cheap one, then obviously price matters.  But hold on a moment, just long enough to read this article by Mouser Self Storage, serving the Greater South Fort Worth/Alvarado/Johnson County area with outstanding, and affordable, storage spaces for a variety of needs. Okay, let’s talk about cheap storage space.

Cheap storage spaces related to price.

Yes, you can price shop for storage units.  Depending upon how many there are in your city, all you have to do is hop on the phone, call them all, and find the lowest price. This requires very little effort on your part, maybe a half hour of your time, and you may be able to save a few dollars by doing so.

A few dollars?

Here’s the thing about the self storage industry: It is very competitive, and that intense competition pretty much regulates the prices all by itself.  There may be some discrepancies in pricing, but it is only measures in single-digit dollars as opposed to big savings.

If it’s worth it to you, single-digit dollar savings, then by all means hop on that phone and start dialing numbers.

Cheap storage related to quality.

This is the issue you will want to pay close attention to, the quality of the storage facilities.  Good quality regarding security means a great deal; poor quality regarding security means a great deal, but in a negative sense.

Why do people store their possessions in storage units? They need a place, outside of their home, where their possessions will be safe, and the key word is “safe,” and we will talk about that in the next section.

Security always matters.

Self Storage security . . . there are four basic levels of security available to self storage companies. Whether they choose to instigate all four is their choice, but it directly affects how safe your possessions will be.

Security Level 1:  a fenced perimeter of the entire facility.  This is probably the most common security measure, one used by perhaps 75% of self storage companies. It is the very least you should expect and, if it is not available, do not rent there.

Security Level 2:  Security camera monitoring of the entire area. This level is not used nearly as often, simply because it is expensive to install all of those cameras and more expensive to pay an employee to monitor them.

Security Level 3:  Computerized, individualized access key cards. Why key cards? Because regular metal keys can be copies, and that means just about anyone could end up with a key to the storage facility.

Security Level 4:  on-site management, people who are actually at the storage facility 24/7, 365, walking the property, and making sure nothing shady is happening on the property.

Find a company which has all four levels of security and it is golden and, in our opinion, worth a few extra dollars per month to rent there for secure self storage.
